Paul Bedford and Barry Jobson have been at their Offices at Foxhole on the Dartington Estate for the last ten years. Coincidentally their first job in the region was on the Estate when they altered what had been a barn and garage into the new College Library. They work for many private clients on both new homes and refurbishment; throughout the years they have maintained an association with the National Trust with projects at Greenway, Anthony House and at Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsula. The practice numbers up to 5 architects and specialises in both the careful repair and reuse of old buildings and modern low energy houses. Sustainability is the watchword; in every project they endeavour always to work with local builders and craftsmen using locally sourced materials.
Since completing the SPAB scholarship in 1982 Paul Bedford has been engaged in work on historic buildings and landscapes; in particular the production of modern architecture and design complementary to these settings.

From 1994 to 1996 as one of UNESCO's project managers based in Zanzibar, East Africa, he coordinated the training of 15 young trades people in building conservation skills, rehabilitating one of the stone-built royal residences of the 19th c. Sultanate.

Experience in this country includes a wide range of building restoration projects from small private houses to major college and public buildings. He has been an adviser to Dartington Hall Trust on the restoration and grant funding of their various buildings including outstanding examples of early modernist design. As one of English Heritage's Commissioned Architects Paul monitored grant-aided restoration projects in the South West.

He serves on the Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings' National Technical Panel and the Committee of the Devon Earth Building Association.

Having qualified as an architect in 1987 Barry Jobson worked for a number of practices, including civil and structural engineers as well as architects, before the forming of this partnership. Barry has a wide range of previous experience as team leader for the National Gymnastics Centre at Milton Keynes, on high-tech office buildings, large retail developments, school refurbishments, community projects and new social housing.

From 1994 to 1996 Barry established and ran a small design and build team which constructed an award-winning house to his designs.

He has particular skills in computer aided design, sustainable development and building, traditional building techniques and modern contracting methods.
