Conversions

We have carried out a number of conversion projects, mainly redundant agricultural buildings into private houses, but also including work for the National Trust, churches and other corporate bodies, converting larger buildings or groups of buildings to new uses.

Our experience in building conservation informs this work but we aim always to bring a contemporary style to the interventions that we make.

We adhere to the view that re-use rather than replacement is usually the sustainable preference and always undertake to improve the thermal efficiency of existing buildings to modern standards. Besides our expertise in repairing existing structures we have a good knowledge of modern servicing technologies and how to incorporate them into old buildings.

We have a good understanding of the planning issues surrounding conversions and changes of use and a good success rate with planning applications.
